In May of 1997, I bought my first computer – an Apple Powerbook 145b with a black & white screen. I used that computer to learn spreadsheets, 2D design, Tetris, photo editing, and so much generally about computers. I carted that laptop all over creation until the plastic gave out, and I bought another Mac. I’ve had an Apple laptop ever since … 11 different ones to be exact.
Knowing Apple computers got me my college job.
Knowing Apple computers got me my first I.T. job too.
Knowing Apple computers got me the job that brought me to the Chicago area.
And knowing Apple’s products taught me flexibility in understanding computing platforms over my 25 year I.T. career.
Apple celebrated 50 years this week. It’s kinda cool to still be proud of a company after 29 years; it’s a very weird long term friendship, but my life and career is so much better for it.
